"Sex on the Radio"

Kate and I are creating a radio show called "Sex on the Radio." We just got it approved last night at the IMC, and it will run at the same time Anna's show ran- on Tuesday nights from 11 to 12 on the WRFU channel 104.5 FM. It will include Kate and I discussing sex and sexuality, sharing stories, playing sexy music, and having guest spots (I'm thinking of having my mom call in once and a while, since she is my sexuality guru.) I think this will be very productive for me since one of my favorite topics to talk about is sexuality and what a great thing this show could provide to Urbana. I remember Love Line in Chicago during my high school years and how much I enjoyed their honesty. I just want this show to provide an open and honest environment for people to talk about these things comfortably. Also I think this will be a great experience for me if I choose to go down the sex therapist route eventually.

So check it out if your in Urbana! And if not we plan to record all our shows and hopefully create a site where we will post them.

Also we're thinking of using pseudonyms so that we're protected and don't become affiliated with the university and such.

"The Newlyweds"
(5ft by 4ft)

I'm in the midst making a painting of my parents. My mom is in the sunlight looking happy at herself, internal, while her body language is closed off. My dad is in the dark scowling at my mom. I think I'm going to title it "The Newlyweds". It's 5ft by 4ft. I'm feeling overwhelmed by it at the moment, I haven't come to terms with how to use cloth in the painting but it shimmers and the colors are great. Now I just have to finish it in time for critique.

I also have my idea for my next painting. Too bad I'm all distracted by that now. I'll save that idea until I start painting it.

Actually, I have come up with my series. This new series of work. I am excited. Finally.

This is my first edit of this video I want to add more stills as well as an audio track.

I just made this today. I plan to add many more layers of color but I think it's starting out really beautiful. I'm covering this patterned stamp I have with watercolor and gouache.

A New School Year

Both of these are works/ideas in progress. The first isn't done color/text wise. The second I plan to elaborate on a larger scale. Its made on three sheets of tracing paper with three different poses, the back sheet only being painted with gouache and acrylic.

"Am I The Monster?"

This is my other project from Junior Spring Semester. I'm still trying to find the audio file on my computer. I downloaded a new form of audacity and now it won't open or play in anything so I might have to put the sound files back together. Sucks.

Anyway, this piece worked specifically with Westley Allan Dodd, a serial murderer and child molester. It discusses how we view serial killers/rapists/molesters and our own obsession with them.

This is my final project Junior Spring Semester.
I used quotes from a "Best of Club America" vintage porn magazine. This project dealt with themes of intimacy vs. pornography as well as surveillance.

Here are some drawings from my sketchbook. I based them off of old porn photographs from the late 70s. I'm interested moving in a new direction and making art that centers around sexuality, specifically female sexuality. This is a topic that I'm really interested in but also that makes me nervous about when it comes to art.

My First Post...Ever

I've never had a blog before so this is a new experience. I never liked the idea of posting personal/emotional information so others could see it but I decided bloging about art and my art specifically would be beneficial.
